KRONO vs the DNB app
DNB has one of Norway's best banking apps. It just wasn't built to be your budget system. KRONO plugs into DNB (and every other Norwegian bank) and adds the planning layer.
Payments, Vipps, saving goals, card controls, mortgage overview. If you're a DNB customer, keep the app — it's excellent at moving money.
The DNB app only sees DNB accounts. Rules-based categorisation is limited. There's no cross-month forecast, no subscription detector, no household split.
Safe to Spend for the rest of the month, a 3-layer budget, auto-detected subscriptions, net worth across every bank you use, and household sharing via iCloud.
If you have DNB plus Sbanken, Nordea or a credit card elsewhere, the DNB app can't see them. KRONO connects them all through PSD2 Open Banking and shows one number.
Does KRONO replace the DNB app? No. All payments and transfers stay in the DNB app. KRONO is read-only and lives next to it.
Is it safe to connect DNB to KRONO? Yes. Access uses regulated PSD2 Open Banking via Salt Edge, is read-only, time-limited (90 days per renewal) and revocable from your DNB app at any time.
Can KRONO see my Vipps payments? Vipps transfers appear as they hit your DNB account — KRONO categorises them like any other transaction.
